Each time something unusual comes into the workshop we take digital images for future reference. From now on I will post a selection of these pics, as some are funny but some are downright dangerous and help illustrate why cars should be thoroughly maintained.
This car was brought into us to have the brakes checked, as you can see to our technicians complete amazement, one brake pad had worn so low, it had fallen right out of the brake caliper, how this car stopped at all is a total mystery!
Mot of the month!
For safety's sake MOT testers have to be vigilant. After all, if they fail to spot a defect on a safety critical item, it could lead to a very bad accident or worse. We do however, have the odd chuckle when a car is presented with a fault that has either been hidden or badly repaired as in the video above.
This car came to us for an MOT test and when we checked for corrosion around a suspension mounting point, (position can be seen in last part of video) our tester noticed evidence of fresh paint, over corrosion. When pressed using the Ministry approved tool he noticed it was unusually springy. An inspection under the wing provided the answer. A block of wood had been jammed between the outer and inner wing to try to add strength to a very poor repair - needless to say this vehicle failed its MOT test!!!.
